If you’re on the hunt for a culinary adventure that combines hearty dishes, bold flavors, and a touch of sweetness, Uncle Mike’s Food Emporium is a must in Appleton. It’s rare to find a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, especially in the mall area. The location is smart because when you’re overwhelmed furniture shopping at WG&R, you’ll want to grab a bite as this restaurant is literally in the parking lot. While this is a review of their lunch/dinner menu, we look forward to going back for breakfast.

Pulled Pork Nachos: A Delight (but surprisingly spicy)

We started with the Pulled Pork Nachos, an excellent shareable option to feed 2-4 people. The pulled pork was tender and flavorful, and the nachos were perfectly crispy. However, be prepared for a kick—the jalapeños add a serious heat that lingers. If you love spicy food, you’ll enjoy this dish, but it might be a bit overwhelming if you’re sensitive to spice.

Spicy Sicilian Pizza: A Flavor Bomb

Next, we tried the Spicy Sicilian Pizza. True to its name, this pizza packs some serious heat. With its robust flavors and spicy toppings, it was delicious but prepare to sweat a bit. While we enjoyed the pizza, we’d advise against pairing it with the Pulled Pork Nachos unless you’re ready for a double dose of spice. It’s a lot of heat in one sitting, and you might want something milder to balance things out. The crust is awesome! The perfect mix of fluffy but slightly chewy that you can only get from a wood-fired pizza. Next time we will try the Bistro pizza. You can definitely share a pizza between two people.

Decadent Chocolate Cake: A Sweet Finish

For dessert, we indulged in the chocolate cake, which was nothing short of decadent. This cake is dense, rich, and lots of dark chocolate flavor. It’s perfect for sharing, and 2-3 people could easily enjoy this treat together. We know the strawberries are more for a pretty presentation, but it made for a great bite when you combined the two. If you’re a chocolate lover, this dessert is not to be missed. It feels very similar to the chocolate cake at Fratellos.

Award-Winning Cherry Kringle: A Take-Home Treat

We also grabbed a Cherry Kringle to take home, and it’s easy to see why this Kringle is award-winning. The pastry was flaky and buttery, with a sweet and tart cherry filling that was simply divine. We almost got the blueberry cheese option, but a few years ago David won a pie eating contest that was blueberry flavored and he’s had an aversion ever since. The Kringle comes in both full and half sizes, making it a great option to bring to a party or share with co-workers. Next time, we’re eager to try the cheese kringle, which we’ve heard is just as fantastic.

Coffee Selections: Collectivo Remains Supreme!

Before leaving, we made sure to grab some coffee, as Uncle Mike’s serves Collectivo coffee, our favorite. We tried the Magic Coffee, which was strong and had a lot of spice flavor, though it wasn’t very sweet. If you prefer something sweeter, the White Chocolate Lavender Latte is a better choice. It’s creamy and indulgent, but you can ask for less sweetness if that’s more your style.

Final Thoughts

Uncle Mike’s Food Emporium offers a diverse menu that caters to both spicy food enthusiasts and those with a sweet tooth. The combination of bold flavors, hearty portions, and delicious desserts makes it a great spot for a meal or a quick coffee stop. Whether you’re dining in or taking treats to go, Uncle Mike’s is sure to satisfy your cravings. Just be mindful of the spice level when choosing your dishes, and save room for dessert—you won’t regret it!
